June 21st, 2014

The first day of summer means 2 things.  First of all I'm sad to see the end of spring, but at the same time we are starting to see some of our hard work pay off.  Strawberry season is in full swing, garlic, potatoes and peas are ready to be eaten, and every day brings something new.

250g of strawberries from our little overgrown strawberry patch.  I'll have to put a little more effort into these guys next year and give them their full due.

Love to see these little guys hanging around.  There were two of them flying around the broad beans.

A beautiful little crab apple.  Still green now, but will soon be turning into a nice deep red.

Two of the biggest snow peas I have ever seen.

Baby zucchinis

Beans, beans and more beans!

Rutabaga showing it's trademark purple top.

Red storage onions sizing up.  Should be ready in a couple of months.

There's just something cool about potato flowers.

100g of peas.  I had to hide these from the kids so that they would last till supper.

6 heads of garlic

A ground cherry flower closing up to produce it's fruit.

Tomatoes in the greenhouse.

The first couple of cherry tomatoes forming up.  This is a variety called yellow pear.

Cucumbers and melons.

Beautiful butterhead lettuce in the greenhouse.

The first of the pepper flowers.

Onion flowers.

Nasturtiums.  The local hummingbirds have already been into these.

1.4kg of the most beautiful red potatoes I have ever seen.
